Infamous Porsche option codes
 

Just purchased a 2000 arena red Boxster and am wondering about some of the option codes. I've visited seveal sites and this is what I've gleaned so far. If anyone can fill in further from their own car or another source, I would appreciate it.

222 traction control
232 unknown
340 limited slip diff.
396 17' wheels
437 unknown
438 unknown
446 wheel caps w/colored crests
454 cruise control
490 Hifi sound w/6 spkrs and base reflex in doors
502 unknown
535 remote control alarm
537 unknown
550 hardtop (has disappeared)
551 windstop
584 unknown
696 AM/FM radio w/CD player

My guess is that the memory seats are options 437 and 438??

My notebook computer with the codes is in the shop being fixed.

This is from info I have printed out over the years.

232 17 inch tires.
340 heated seats right - the Boxster has never had a limited slip.
437 power seat left.
438 power seat right.
502 Finland production.
537 lumbar
584 is the hard plastic rear storage box.

Thanks for the reply on those codes. I see a few things got messed up on my original post.

You are correct on option code 340, right seat heat is what I have in my notes also.

Any idea what option code 224 is?? My notes said that is a limited slip differential.

Code 502 is Finland production?? I've checked that number twice and it is correct. Car was originally titled in LA. Maybe that is a special code for California??

Post a picture of your option sticker and black out the VIM if that bothers you and I will look it up when I get my computer back.

I usually see 222 and 224 lumped together as traction control.

My computer is back.

224 is listed as automatic limited slip differential.

If anyone has 224 on their option sticker can you post a picture of the sticker (cover the VIN if that bothers you) or email me a picture of the option sticker.

I would really like to also see any sticker with both 222 and 224 on it. Jeff

Here is a picture of my VIN label with that mysterious 502 option code plus the combination of codes 222 and 224.

I've driven the car about 100 miles so far and still haven't found any clue about code 502.

Isn't it weird that they use such a bad label? The thing is just paper, looks like it is attached with a glue stick! They all look like this.

Hint: While you're at it, write your radio code on this sticker!

Valmet is the name of the company in Finland that assembles some of the Boxsters.

You have an arena red 2.7 or base Boxster.

224 bothers me. I am going to show it to the guy I know at my dealer. In the past he spoke to a German guy to figure out some of the codes that are not listed. Our cars never had limited slip.

For Toolpants....I wont bother taking a picture of mine beacuse its just the same as the other one already posted, but my 99 Boxster base also has both codes 222 and 224.

PJ, do you also have traction control? If you do then I guess you get both the 222 and 224 codes with the traction control option.

224 is also listed as ABD (Active Brake Differential) which sounds like part of the traction control system.

Anyone with the traction control option should be able to confirm that both codes are or are not on the sticker. My car does not have traction control so I cannot look.

I asked a salesman I know to look at a 1997 order guide, and I looked at my 1997 tech intro manual. 224 is automatic brake differential which he said is like an electronic limited slip diff. So it appears to me that if you have traction control you get 222 and 224.
