Changing Cam chain Tensioner's
 
There would be NO reason to lock my cams if Iam only changing the tensioners correct ?? 02' 2.7 Thanks Frank

I'm pretty sure that I've read that it's possible to jump timing if the tensioner is removed and the cams are not locked.

You really should lock the engine at TDC and lock the cams to eliminate any possibility of problems.

When you remove a tensioner in any position besides TDC and without the cams locked, you are letting a chain go very slack while one or more valves have their springs compressed; this is the perfect condition for that spring pressure to try to rotate the cams, jumping time in the process. There is one way to do it safely, and an infinite number of ways to ask for trouble...………….
