Clutch and flywheel compatibility between years.
My clutch is out and the disk is down to the rivets. I have been looking at low-mileage used kits and there are Cayman S parts that claim to be compatible with my 2000 base. Elsewhere I read that the disk splines were different between the base and the S. Can anyone tell me what I can and can't use?
For those that want to tell me to buy new parts and be done with it... if I have to replace the flywheel, pressure plate and disk I am looking at about C$1200 minimum, for a $5,000 car. If I can get the same parts for les than $300 I will seriously consider it. Thanks in advance. |
The only thing I can offer is a confirmation that yes, the disc is different between the S and the base (on 986)

Has anyone here tried the EPS clutch disk? It is the only disk that I have found that costs less than the Porsche-taxed stock disk ($179) and it has a greater surface area for longer life. Since my pressure plate is salvageable I may go with the EPS.
