Race seats / airbag light

Yes, the old Airbag light question..

I have searched the forum (and other sources) and I think I know, but I´m not sure so before I mess things up I´d love a extra confirmation that I´m correct (or not).

Car: 2003 986s ROW
Present seats: Original "sports chairs" fully electric incl heating.
New Seats: Sparco Evo 2 qrt

As I understand it there are no airbags in the actual seats, however I read that the airbag light can still be triggered. I have not really understood why.. Is there a sensor in the actual seat that is triggered by the weight of the passenger?

Anyway can anyone please confirm that I´ll be ok if I do the following:
1) Disconnect battery
2) Remove chair, disconnect all wiring under the chair
3) Add new chair
4) Have a beer
5) Mount the seat belt receptacle to the new chair
6) Connect the cable to the seat belt receptacle

Correct? :)

Yes, that is exactly how I have 2 Recaro Profi XL seats in my 2000 Boxster with no airbag light. I bought two seat belt receptacles from Woody so that I wouldn't have to mess with my original seats.

You can skip disconnecting the battery as long as you do not put the key in the ignition while the seatbelt receptacle wiring is unplugged, so when I need to pull a seat out for example, I don't disconnect the battery. I don't know if using the remote control to lock/unlock the car has any impact on the airbag light as I never use the remote control.

If you are using the stock 3 point seatbelt, just swap it over to the race seat . No need to even unhook the lead that goes to the receptacle.
