2002 Boxster S power up?

2002 Boxster S with IMS failure, engine still in car, transaxle out to inspect motor .
The battery was unhooked at the dealer when the car was looked over for the previous owner.
Now that I have the car home I would like to hook up the battery so I can roll up/down windows and check out things a bit.
The only wiring I can see not hooked up is the speedo sensor.
You folks think it's safe to hook it up for a bit? (obviously not turn over the starter).

Sure, why not ? if the crankshaft doesn't turn, how can more damage occur ?

Hooked it back up and had to charge it ...sat for 6 mo since the big sneeze. Alarm started off feebily, and gradually waking it up. Found the owners manual so that's a big help. A guy is really toast without juice in these cars, can't open anything w/o it. 103,000 km on it.
