Hello-
I need to order new tires for the rear of my S model 986
265/35/ZR18
this is an 04 special S

It seems you cant get them delivered to a house anymore ?
Anyone have an all season recommendation ?

If you're only getting rears, you should match the fronts. You don't want to mix & match tires.

The question is, how old are the fronts? They may be past their prime, which would allow you to get any brand you choose.

The Conti all seasons are good tires.

The tires are 15 years old, but tread isn't that bad.
They have that old tire "sheen" too, and I know many of you know what I mean,

Even with great tread, tires that old are bad news. Dangerous, even.

Mine is a 04S and had yokohama’s And near the end of tree life with a lot of road noise. I changed to Michelin’s ps4’s I believe. Put about 3k on them before putting away for the winter.

Definitely get all four. 15 year old tires are bad news !

As far as which tires, that depends on how you drive.

Since the tires are 15 years old, it appears you don't drive very much.

If she's a Garage Queen, and you just putter around town and go to the occasional "Cars & Coffee" only, then buy some cheap Summitomos or Falkens or BFG Indy 500 tires.

If you tour cross-country in all weather, try an All Season tire.

If you really do push the car hard, buy some Bridgestone S-04, Continental Sports, or Michelin PS4s.

If the car is just going to mostly sit in a garage for ten years, don't buy the track oriented, sticky tires as they will "out gas" and dry out faster than an all season tire over time.

Go to the "Tire Rack" website and punch in the sizes for your car and see what pops up. They can ship the tires to a local "approved" installer near your home and you can drive over there and have them put on your car.

I own the same car, and I'm aggressive and I have run the S-04, Conti Sports, and now have the PS4s on her and these PS4s are AMAZING.

....and THIS is a solid, All Season tire with long tread life and great ride and can handle a little snow and a lot of rain.

I had this tire on my wife's Ford Fusion and it was great.

Wow... 15yrs? Those tires are DEAD. All 4 without question. Tires are are not the place to be “cheap”. That doesn’t mean you need the most expensive tires on the planet, but it does mean replacing them when it’s time, and time is up on yours...

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ are an excellent all season tire. This is what I run on my 911.

15 years???:eek::eek: After 4 years, tread or no tread, it’s time, just my opinion, but tires are way too important.

You're going to be surprised how much quieter and smoother the car will be with fresh shoes. You'll be very glad you did.

....The tire companies and NHTSA state that tires should be replaced after six years once they have been mounted on a vehicle, regardless of mileage, and ten years after being in storage unmounted.
