Replacement cluster

I bought a used cluster for my 2002 base. Will I cause a problem with the cluster or ECU if I connect the replacement in to make sure it's working and to check the mileage, and then to switch back?

No, that won't cause any issues.

Be careful with the harness connections as they're very brittle at this age

This x10. I have broken all three in my various cluster projects.

Wow, not that I doubted you, but you weren't kidding ab9ut brittleness. And I've seen single use Rubbermaid using thicker plastic. Both blue and green connectors lost the side pins for the black locking lever and the left mount point for the cluster snapped off. And I was being gentle... Yikes
