987 Top realignment procedure

Hi Everyone,

I'm back to Boxstering with a 2008 987.1 Boxster S. The top has broken the plastic socket on the right side and the other side has been loosened. The right side's lower tension cable has also snapped. The top can only be safely raised / lowered by hand right now. I've acquired replacements for the broken parts and want to fix her up to operate properly. Assuming that all of the adjustments are out of whack, what's the procedure to readjust everything once I've put the new cable and pushrod plastic socket back together?

I've owned a couple Boxsters now and the tops always seem to break. I really don't want to have to deal with this again.

There's a procedure in Pelican's how-to section for the 986. It's near identical.

As I've been dealing with the same on an '06, make sure you check the roof gearboxes for looseness in the arm. On the 987 in question the pushrod end on the right snapped, and even with a replacement and alignment it jammed shut. Turned out the input cog on the left gearbox had decided to break-up with its output shaft.
