Cannot open front trunk if my life depended on it(dead battery)

05 987 and battery went flat now I cannot open the trunk. Key is now stuck in the ignition. What a STUPID DESIGN??!!

I cant turn the wheel to get better access at the cable pull in front left wheel well. So I have managed to make do with wheel in place. Cant take wheel off because it has a wheel lock which of course is stuck in the front trunk with spare tire.

I am pulling on this cable with all my might. With pliers without pliers and it pulls some but does NOT open the hood. What gives?
I sure do miss the manual trunk cables of the early 986 generation

Best advice I got from the forum was for the same issue. Dead battery and can't get to cable The RadioShack cigarette lighter w terminals. Run wires to another car battery, plug into lighter socket and it provided enough juice to pop the lock.

How did you eventually get the front trunk open. My switch nor emergency cable are working.

Is your battery dead? Have you tried running a charger to the cigarette lighter socket? Before I figured out the cigarette lighter charger I had to remove the trim in front of the passenger front wheel and pull the cable. That's not working?

My emergency release was disconnected because of the rubber grommet breaking (it holds the cable end on to the release lever). I was also having immobilizer issues, so I actually loosened up the bumper cover everywhere I could (except for under the hood of course) and go in far enough to release the lever with a blade screwdriver. It's as annoying as it sounds. You have to get it up between the lever and what it's hooked on to. If I had realized I needed to replace the immobilizer anyway, I would have waited to do that, but I didn't know enough at the time.
