Raising seat on my 05 Boxster ?

I am 5 ft 5" Tall and find that I need the seat higher than I can manually
raise it. (Manual seats) I think another inch or maybe less would work.
I have pulled the 4 bolts and noticed that the front 2 bolt seat brackets
and floor mount are angled. do I need to raise the front and rear evenly
or can I raise the rear only. Was thinking of using either stacked washers
or maybe a bushing or some flat bar aluminum stock .
Any advise on this would be great. Thx

did you try the seat adjustment?

As you alluded to, you can't raise it with spacers because the holes won't align. Maybe a thick pillow? Phone book or booster seat, squirt? :D

I think stacking washers etc. would multiply the shear force by leverage applied to the bolts which could then fail in an impact and would not be recommended.

Hmm... maybe contact Brey Krause or Recaro, they may have a seat bracket that can act as a riser. The stock seat comes up quite a bit, are you sure it’s fully raised? That can stick a little as well.

+1 On my previous Boxster, which had manual seats, I had to lever the seat up with a stick while holding the adjustment switch.

X2. I also think the piston that raises the seat is stuck in the low position

Why do you need the seat higher? I'm the same height as you and I have my seat in the lowest position on all of my cars.
It's a sporty car so you want to sit low to keep the centre of gravity low

I’m guessing visibility is the issue. My wife is 5’2” and needs a 2” thick seat cushion to get to a comfortable position even with the seat at max height. BTW lowering your seat an inch or two will have no appreciable difference as regards handling on a street driven Boxster due to “lowering the center of gravity”.

I see lots of people trying to keep the center of gravity low......I just wonder how they can see over the steering wheel. If you are 5' 5" you need the seat in the raised position.

My wife is 5'7" and she likes it up.

The distance from the bottom of the bottom to the top of the head varies with body type as well as total height. Comfort within a car will vary too.

Again, I'm the same height as the OP. 5'5". With the seat bottomed out, my eye level is roughly around the middle of the windscreen, well above the steering wheel. No, I can't see the bonnet(hood for the Americans), but I can see the road ahead just fine.

Maybe I have really short legs, but I doubt this as several people taller than me adjust the seat forward when they drive my cars.

How I set the seating position up: I make sure I'm sitting all the way back on the cushion and push the clutch all the way in. I want my leg fully extended with a comfortable amount of toe point) as it kisses the floor without having to move my butt at all. Where there is height adjustment, I always use the lowest setting unless the front of the cushion restricts my left leg behind the knee when doing the clutch thing above. In an automatic (yuk) I put my left foot flat on the foot rest and do the above adjustment.
I sit quite upright, which I'm sure does help me to see out. With shoulders fairly neutral I like to be able to rest my wrists on the wheel with straight arms. This gives me a nice roomy position while all the controls are reachable without having to move my torso. If I drive barefoot (I live in Africa) I just put the seat one notch forward.

Hey

The exact distance from the base of the bottom to the peak of the head varies with physical stature in addition to total elevation. Comfort within a car will be different.
