Oil bars keeps blinkin 986 from 2003 2.7

Hello to everybody out there,

On my Porsche Boxter 2.7 from 2003 , the oil level bars keeps blinking until they go out. But they never show the oil level. Of course I checked the oil level and that is ok.

I changed already the Oil pressure thing, but without result.

It looks like it is maybey cockpit related.

I must say that the car was attacked by a mouse or something because we had to repair some wiring wich was chewed on.

Anybody suggestions ??

Hello Adoviper,

I believe that the oil pressure sensor (the one you replaced) and the oil level sensor are different ones, not 100% sure but I also believe that the oil level sensor is towards the front of the 4-6 bank (behind the driver seat).

You're doing this without the engine running, correct? If you start the engine the bars will blink but not show you the level.

You are correct, the pressure and level sensors are different.

Oil level sensor is going to be bear to get to.
If I remember correctly it is in the center of the engine and was about 18" long.

I had a similar issue. The gauge wouldn't show the oil level correctly.
It ended up being the gauge cluster that needed to be repaired.

I sent it to Qumulus to fix.
