Update
hey all,
This is for the few that might be curious how some of my upgrades are coming along. Here is a pic of the rear bumper. Its not done yet but about halfway there. The center area for bumperettes is going to be cutout and a black mesh grill installed as well as a rear lower diffusor is being added... |
That looks awesome keep us updated. Where can I get the "986" logo?
|
Gembella look. Do you have a picture of the pipes without the cover on?
He has the 968 emblem. |
yeah I just got the 968 emblem and switched the 6 and 8.
Actually my old muffler is the Gemballa one(Twin Tipped coming out the middle, currently up for sale :) ) The one on my car now is the RUF exhaust and modified bumper. It has a little less "drone" sound to it. I didnt go with the Gemballa rear bumper simular because I thought the rear bumper for the Gemballa is a little "busy" for me. I decided to modify to the RUF rear exhaust and bumper mod(still yet to be completed by the pic above) I did however use the TTP/Gemballa headers and high flow cats. Plus I did use the Gemballa sideskirts(installed currently, not painted yet) and the TTP front bumper which you pretty much have all seen(GT2 front bumper) I thought going with the RUF bumper gives it a cleaner, less busy, look. One of the pics I posted in another link showed the pipes without the bumper on. Dont have it handy but is around here someplace :) |
here is the pic from another post of mine showing what the exhaust looks like. SOrry the pic sux but it was from my camera on my cell phone :)
|
thought I would shar another pic from a different angle ;p
|
me wants.
|
How do the heat and fumes from the exhaust affect the rear bumper and paint?
|
Well both RUF and Gemballa have been using this style for a few years. I have not heard of any trouble with paint from heat and such. The heat sheilds are modified slightly behind the bumper to retain the heat from the pipes.
So to answer your question I would suggest there would be no damage as a result if done propery. |
Thank you!
I noticed that your pipes are right under the tail lights compared with the Gemballa ones that are closer together towards the center. Can that be spaced out differently or is that simply the way your exhaust system forced the cutout to be? Also, What do you do about the factory groove on the bottom for the original exhaust so that it doesn't look like something is missing? |
Hehe. Well thats one reason the bumper is only halfway done.
RUF sends out a lower diffusor which cover whole underside of the bumper. It fits like a glove and has air channels like the Gemballa. It will completely change the look of the bumper. Also the entire license plate area will be cut and a black metal mesh grill put in its place. The bumperettes are attached by rivets and they are going to be popped out. The license plate will attach to a holder attached to the mesh grill. As more of it is completed I will post more shots. Yes the location of the pipes is fixed. The Gemballa is closer inward since the pipes come out of the top of the Gemaballa muffler, instead of the RUF which comes out the sides of the muffler. Personally I like it lined up directly in the middle and under the lights. FYI the price difference between this and the GEmball kit is about 5 k. The RUF kits comes for about 5k and the GEmballa is almost 11k. Another reason I went to the RUF exhaust :) |
What else is included in the package for $5K other than the bumper pieces and exhaust?
Can't wait to see finished pics. :) |
Kit comes with Mesh grilles, Carbon Fiber underbody Diffusor with clips, Stainless steal exhaust tip 'O'rings, RUF Muffler, rear bumper and diffusor painted, and the cost of shipping from Germany(about $500).
|
I see!
Have you spoken to these guys? http://www.weissach.com/ They are the authorized RUF dealers in North America. They are located in Canada so shipping is easier with freight instead of air. I never bought from them but considered a RUF kit and they are very helpful and professional. :) |
Since I was ordering a few different items they just thew it all in the same box . Gunther(some of you know who he is), packed and freighted a bunch of items at once so it made more sense for me that way. Just cost a little more.
|
Here is another new update as of today for the rear bumper. It is about done and going to body shop for painting, I hope by begining of next week or so. Depends on how quickly all the snow around here melts :(
|
What are you asking for the Gemballa exhaust?
Thanks, Automon |
Well to tell you the truth I wansnt sure myself. Originally I paid 1250 for the actual exhaust and 300 for having it shipped.
Obviously I am not looking to make up the cost on the shipping since whoever buys it is going to hopefully be within the US and shipping it would be ALOT cheaper. The muffler has 4 months of use on the car equating to about 1500 miles of use. It is just broken in. Sounds amazing, just doesnt work with my new exhaust setup. If someone would give me 1000 US Dollars for it I would see parting with it. I might even pay for the shipping myself. I can get a pic of the muffler for peeps to see if anyone is interested in it. |
hey all here is a pic of my old(not old at all only used 4 months before installing exhaust you see above) Gemballa twin tip stainless steel muffler I am trying to sell. Anyone interested. Email me!
FYI this would be a reat addition for sound with the TTP headers somone else is selling in another link I saw a few minutes ago. |
hey thought I would include this pic showing the imprint of Gemballa on the tips
