Camshaft problems?
I had my 2002 Boxster 2.7 base die while idling at a red light. After several tries, it started and ran rough. I limped it home. Read codes of 300,301,302,303,343. Cleared them and restarted and still shows 343 camshaft position sensor bank 1 exceeds value. Still runs rough. Durametric has cam deviation for both banks as 0. Actual value for camshaft bank 1 is 0. Actual value for bank 2 is -12.92. Can anyone tell me what these numbers mean? Could this just be a bad cam position sensor or is there something else I can check?

I put a new AOS on it about 3-400 miles ago. Is it possible I pulled something loose? Isn’t the cam sensor pretty much under the AOS?

You are way out of specs, so an alert is triggered.
Probably variocam wear |
Some of us have changed the variocam pads resulting in the camshaft timing numbers not changing more than a degree or 2, and in some cases, not at all.

Next step is to examine the oil and filter for metal.

I finally had time to dig into this. I took off the aos to get a look at the wiring. Everything looked ok and the voltages checked out ok. I went ahead and replaced the cam position sensor just to be safe. I put everything back and it seems to run a little better but still rough at idle. CEL comes on after a few minutes with the same P0343. I checked the cam timing for bank 1 and it looks like it's maybe a tooth off. Suggestions on what I should do from here?http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1534107234.jpg
