School me on scanners!

Looking for a recommendation on a scanner for use on my 986S that would also work well on my 98 Subaru. I've seen the Durametric and the Autel MD 802 mentioned here.
I would like to flush the brake fluid on the 986 and would like to be able to open the ABS/PSM. Will the scanner do this or do I need something else that will likely be more expensive. I have a strong mechanical background but it's getting more dated every year with all the electronics. lol

Thanks in advance for the education.

First of all, activating the ABS/PSM systems during a bleed/flush is ONLY required if you have opened up these systems and gotten air into them; even dealers do not activate these systems when doing a routine maintenance flush.

Psm

I had the calipers off for a rebuild and repaint. I got everything back together just fine and used my power bleeder the same as I have many times before on simpler vehicles.
I was not aware of the ABS/PSM at the time so now I just need to take it a step further.

to my knowledge, only the PIWIS, PST II, or Durametric will activate the ABS/PSM systems; the last time we looked at the Autel MD 802, it could not, but that may have changed with later updates.

The Durametric is very good but it is Porsche specific. It won’t work on the Subie.
