Sylvania Silverstar Ultra H7 Halogen Review

Wow!

Installed Sylvania Silverstar Ultra halogen 55watt bulbs in my fog AND high beams to go with my factory Litronic HID low beams.

These bulbs light up the road better than any other halogen I have ever used.

These are THE bulbs for those seeking the best light for high speed night driving.

BUT, they do NOT match the color temperature of the factory Litronic HIDs.

They are whiter than the OEM H7 halogens, but not as white as the HIDs.

I don't care, they light up the road like nothing else.

I love my PIAA yellow bulbs for fog lights, very bright and effective under inclement weather.

there are much stronger H7 bulbs out there. Silverstars are very overrated.

Sylvania Silverstars are notorious for being short lived.

Go beyond Pep Boys and find Osram Silverstars or Phillips —-Vision and choose your extra brightness and whether you’re looking for “blue” or something actually useful.

The one time I tried the Silverstar Ultras, both bulbs burned out within one day of each other after four months of use.

....so, Quadcammer, how about a list of names instead of a cryptic "there are brighter ones out there" comment?

Gimme some names.

FWIW, I put Philips bulbs in my wife's car.

I've run PIAAs in my Miata for years.

If anybody out there has personal experience with brighter, 55w, H7, non LED, lets hear the brand name and model number.

Again, H7, Halogen, 55 watt.

I've seen lots of headlamp assemblies which appear to have been 'cooked' and discolored due to, I am assuming, the practice of running hotter-than-OEM lamps within the housings.

This makes me nervous about the entire concept of trying to find "brighter" lamps.

Of course, switching over to LED lamps should, at least in general principles, solve this "hot" issue. But we aren't discussing that idea here.

But put in bulbs that run too cool and in snow and ice conditions there may be not enough heat to keep the outer headlight covers clean.

Osram Rallyes blow anything away in the category, but they are discontinued. While also 65 watt, they cause no issues on factory wiring.

Yes perhaps any more heat would haze up the cover. I have already got some hazing/cloudiness opposite the projector
