Alternator rebuild in Los Angeles?
 

anyone know any good independent shops in LA where I can get my alternator rebuilt for cheap?

i usually go to German Independent, but they (who think my problem is an alternator having not yet looked at it) want to put in a $1200 brand new alternator.

btw, my boxster wouldn't start last night, and the electrical system went haywire. windows going up and down, lights going on and off (and fading out)....and so i got it jump started and that worked. based on that description, the mechanic thinks it's the alternator.

if it is the alternator, do you guys know any place where i can avoid paying $1200 for a new alternator???
