99 Boxster runs bad when ever it wants to.
My 99 Boxster runs badly whenever it feels like it. I can be going down the road at 60 and give it some throttle, it rolls over like it's not getting any fuel. It runs like that for a while and the next time I start it, runs great. Then after sitting for a few days, it acts up on start-up. Dealer can't find the problem because it comes and goes when it wants to. 60000 mile service done a couple thousand miles ago (at 57000 mi.) now at 60,200. Car always ran great until this started happening. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. NO CODES.
Anyone have an idea where I can look. |
When you say no codes, do you mean just generic OBDII codes or also the Porsche-specific codes? I can't imagine there won't be any codes at all given your symptoms. Is this just a corner gas station mechanic ir a Porsche specialist?

I get a code for bank 2 cyl.456 misfire.
car seems to run great, then the throttle rolls over and the car runs like crap. like it's starved for fuel. Put the car in the garage. Next time out runs great again. Acts like this when ever it wants to. READY TO SEND MY BABY TO THE CRUSHER. |
All you need is a competent M96 Indie. Others will waste your money probably.
Just ask here for referrals to your zip in NJ - problem solved, no crusher required :-) The qualifying question for a potential mechanic is "Do you have PIWIS" . If he says no but I use Dirametric - O.K. Most other replies are an immediate disqualify because he will be unable to pin point the problem and will waste expensive diagnostic time &/or start guessing/throwing needless parts on.For example -relevant to your problem - a generic obd2 tester won't reveal excessive Deviation degrees. IF that is causing the Misfire on Bank 2 , you may have(hypothetically) failing chain ramps/tensioner and be close to a catastrophic failure. The fix is straightforward now but later.......Just imho |
