Transmission sluggish after hours of inactivity

Hi friends

This is regarding a 1998 Boxster 986 (Tip)

I realize after hours of inactivity (esp after parking overnight), in the morning the car would be harder to switch gears.

The accelerate pedal feels normal but for the first few mins or so, the gears would be much much harde to change.. eg from gear 2 to 3 would need at least 3k rpm when normally it needs about 2.3-2.5k rpm

After 5mins or a short distance things feel right again.
What could be the cause(s)?

The Tip needs an oil change.
