Ignition switch??

2003 Standard Boxster. Today the key was difficult to turn, but it did and the car started up. However, the A/C quit working, the displays stopped working and I couldn't turn the ignition switch off. Finally was able to shut down after much wiggling and fiddling. The key has been a little loose feeling in the switch.
Think my switch is going bad?? What would cause the A/C and displays to stop working??

When the switch is on its way out it can cause all kinds of electrical gremlins, just replace it, it's cheap and a half hour job (if you are supple and have tiny hands).

I just had to do this, similar symptoms. The first step in the pelican article is all you should have to do.

This set with the extension tube and a headlamp were super helpful, and I have a pretty fat head.

A headlamp is key. One of those coal miner type lights with an elastic strap that goes around your head. You need both hands for tools and maneuvering. I ended up removing the left vent from the dash and going from underneath as well to get the job done.

I took the seat out to get into the car and be able to lie on my back flat.

Removing the seats certainly would help. I swapped the switch last month due to intermittent starting. Technically simple job but it's a pain working in that tight space.

Been having trouble locating the squeak in my clutch and dread climbing in there each time to lube another suspected spot. Might pull the seat and give that a go cause squeaks drive me nuts!
