Does 550 SE have 987 shifter?

Did the 2004 Boxster S "50 Years of 550 Spyder" Edition come with the 987 shifter? It's listed as "Factory Short Shifter", is this the one folks are buying as 987 shifters to upgrade their 986 with?

Thanks.

I think it is the 9x7 shifter, they advertise it as 15% shorter, which maps to the 9x7 shifter.

That...

...makes sense. My 550 also has a 987 air filter housing and other "early build" 987 bits incorporated into her last of the 986 build.

Thanks.

Pop the shifter boot and take a look?

So, if this is true, it would have a 987 airbox and a 987 gear shifter.

Would be interesting to know what other 987 parts are on it.

I don't think there is much else of note that carries on to the 987. The other 550 stuff is quite well documented and known such as the GT silver paint, 5mm spacers, tail pipe, leather, different gear knob and wheel, M030. Suspension is otherwise the same as an S. Because of the 987 airbox the inlet tract is a little different but it still goes to the 68mm throttle body.

No, the 550 has the standard 986 shifter fitted with a slightly shorter shaft.

Wow....

...First time I've ever been happier with a shorter shaft.

Do ALL 550s have m030, or was it an option like for the rest of us?

All have...

...standard on the 550.
