Error code toothed belt out of position

Hi,

I just sent in my car engine for an overhaul.

Days after getting the car back, the engine has a flapping/fluttering sound. It progressively gets louder. I had it towed back to the mechanic, but not before another mechanic did see diagnostics.

The results show: toothed belt out of position. I noticed the fuel consumption is also very poor.

Does anyone recognize what this could be?

I posted a thread on this just now but i couldn't find it. If I'm placing this on the wrong subforum pls inform me.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...78d7379a9b.jpg

You do not have "toothed belts", these engines use chains to drive the cams. Could be a number of things, including a cam timing issue.

That's what I was thinking, glad you put that up.

Hi

I have included a 2mb video file. The fluttering could be very obviously heard in the file.

Hmm.. the engine is started but no acceleration.. this is the sound it makes.

I understand there are no belts but chains are used.. but what could explain this sound?http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/590b436b3e4da/videocompress-023-20170503_192353.mp4

A tip. When posting, always include the model year and model of the car as some of the codes differ between engines. That info helps those who are trying to help you.
