Upgrade to Mk2 roof transmissions

Hi All,

Let me preface this by saying I did try to search this but was not clear on if this is possible. A couple questions:

1. Is it possible to upgrade to the Mk2 roof transmissions, but retain the Mk1 motor and microswitches? I'd like to upgrade to the stouter transmissions, but don't want to get into all the wiring involved with replacing the motor and removing the microswitches.

2. Will the Mk2 cables work with the Mk1 motor?

My Mk1 transmissions are toast and my roof is currently manual which I'm totally good with, but would like to have the clamshell be powered again, which brings me to the third and final question:

3. Is there a hack to allow the switch to operate the clamshell without the parking brake engaged?

Thanks for your help.

It is also possible to upgrade to a no fuss manual system (in Search)- just like a Miata..

The problem with the transmissions is usually a cracked plastic gear. You can replace them with new ones from Pelican and they should be good for another 15 years. :)
And yes, there is an easy hack fot the parking brake. It's just bending a pin. You can find it in the diy section, I think.
