Lightweight Lexan Trunk

Certainly not something you’d want to do to a street car but I played around over the weekend with cutting and fitting lexan into a trunk. Certainly not done, but so far it looks…OK. I’ll end up wrapping it so it won’t be clear for long. Structurally its very sound, its stretched tight and pined tightly against the trunk seal, I’m actually a little surprised how well it took the shape of the original trunk. I was originally planning on raising it so its flush with the quarter panels but I actually really like the sunken look. Side note, the factory trunk is really light! I can’t see a fiberglass unit being much of any savings at all.

Lexan Trunk??? Who needs a Lexan Trunk??? I think the spoiler is the piece de resistance!!! That's fantastic! Functional yet visually unobtrusive. Very Nice.

Haha thanks. It started out as an autocross car so ended up with that popular design. Here's a better shot.
