why P1137 clutch switch on AT boxster
Hi. Am a bit confused why I got a P1137 clutch switch when I have automatic transmission 2000 boxster. it came with P0600. llikewise, body vin says boxster S 3.2L and scan of engine shows diff number coded to be 2.7L. i dont mind if it had engine changed as it runs good but the CEL p1137 and p0600. Any help where to start or any explanation i would appreciate. thanks

a car dealer used Durametric. And another porsche owner have a durametric and confirmed the same. thanks

I think your real problem is the P0600 code which is for an open circuit in the CAN bus, the major communications pathway for your Tiptronic transmission to talk with the DME. Most likely, this is a wiring harness or harness connector issue.

Thanks for the info. I will look into it, I mean will have someone look into it. I was just worried why it said clutch. Tiptronic, automatic and manual modes runs ok. Its just the CEL. I hope there are lots of thse parts (used) available. Am not a real tech, only very very little knowledge which is "dangerous" LOL. Thanks

There are two clutch switches on a manual transmission Boxster. One detects that the clutch is depressed in order to start the car. The other detects if the clutch is depressed for the cruise control.
If the car starts, then the P1137 isn't critical (but it certainly is an oddity!), so I'd suggest focusing on the P0600 CAN Bus error and then go from there. |
Thank you. It starts and runs good. Tiptronic, manual, and automatic functions well. YES it is an Automatic Transmission so I am puzzled. Like the other suggestion and thanks to you fellas, to concentrate on P0600 which could be harness or connectors. I am thinking of buying the harness from Pelican, I wonder what they call this harness (which one) or part number maybe. Still nervous here but lesser now as I see little light now. Thanks

Oooops sorry I thought I replied on this one. Yes the oddity is that the car is Automatic Transmission with a clutch fault per P1137. Like said, to concentrate on P0600 instead, this I will. Thanks to you guys. BTW what part will I buy from Pelican on the mentioned "harness". Might as well replace it if not so expensive. Thanks again

I would probably clear the faults, drive it, and see what comes back. If I recall, I had a tiptronic throw a clutch switch fault once, it ended up being the brake light switch. See if your brake lights work. They use the same part, manual or auto.
With those faults in the picture though, I would probably chase the P0197. That is probably the one that will come back. CAN bus problems don't usually happen unless somebody has been messing with something(radio install, aftermarket accessories, etc). I've definitely had oil sensors go bad. I'm not sure the clutch switch fault will even turn on the CEL. |
Thanks. Ive reset several times and keeps coming back. I bought the oil level and temp sensor (1 pc, I hope just one, passenger side) from pelican. I have removed the intake tubes for access but cant get it out as the intake is on the way. I would need buy the gaskets for the intake (could be rubber ring or what) before I remove the intake for access. That's a little relief knowing P1137 happened to others with auto transmission. Thanks for your input. Lucky I joined the forum.
