New video of the S/C Boxster
This is on the 2.5 but as you can see my 3.2 will be done this month

I know I'd love the acceleration in my 2.5 boxster with a SC kit, but that piercing whistle making it sound like a jet engine is annoying! I'm going to have to rethink my desire for a SC kit. I just might save my bucks for a 3.4 conversion.

I love the whine....sounds sick.

I have actually have been in that car and can say the sound in the car is not that noticeable. I know what you mean though that was my main concern. I still left my car with them after riding in it.

400 HP is your goal? 330 at the wheels?
Sounds pretty ambitious. You'll get 230 at the wheels with the SC alone, how are you accounting for the rest? If I were to give with FI I would definitely have gone the turbo route. Much less strain on the engine But sooooo expnsive. |

Also, when you are in the car, you really can not hear the supercharger over the rest of the engine. |
Hay Karl correct me if I am wrong but the red 2.5 in that video has all stock exhaust as where the 3.2 requires the specifically made headers.

Right now we are just waiting for GIAC to tune, unfortunetly they have put us on "their time schedule" |
I really like the idea of a supercharger and enjoyed the video. But, is it possible to get the supercharger without the cheesy 80's music. I don't think I could handle that all the time?
Thanks. |

Lol, thats some good music :)
Notice how you do not hear the supercharger from inside the vehicle, you hear more of the cold air intake. Outside the car though, there is a distinct whine..... |
That's nothng a Led Zepplin IV CD couldn't fix ;)
So 330 HP at the wheels is what expected for the 3.2 kit? I don't have a Boxster 'yet' but am thinking about the options and when the time comes, I'll want something a little unusual like a SC or a 3.4 conversion. |
The video would be great without the music playing. I'm really just trying to hear the car, but the music is over powering that effect. I can't wait for the 2.7 kit to be released. :)

After researching the 3.4L a bit, this looks like it might be the way to go for a '97.
The 3.4L PDF that is floating around looks really good, and it seems that the only major caveat to install is the ECU problem, but after talking to a couple of local shops, they told me they've done it, it was too much work, and call them back when I buy a Boxster S and want a 3.4 in it. (Which I'm kinda missing the point on I guess for the amount of $$) Even so, this kit is still $7k + about $1500-2k in install (if you can't do it yourself, I'd say I probably can't :) ) Sure is spendy to make these things reasonably quick. If the kit was $4k I'd be all over it a lot sooner. |
