interior lights

I have a 2001 boxster base model. The interior lights do not come on when opening the door. or by switching on until the ignition switch is in the on posission . Shouldnt the lights come on when opening the door and the ignition switch off. Anyone have any ideas?

The interior lights do not work with the rocker switch in any position unless the key is on. Strange?

Most likely a faulty ignition switch. They are around $20 and an easy DIY job.

Thanks ( The Bomb) Ill check the ignition switch, any advice on changing it out?
