Securing hardtop trim to hardtop

Hello. Any of you handy folks have an idea on how to properly
secure my right hardtop trim to the hardtop. If you
look at the picture, it looks like it is peeling off. Any
suggestions I will greatly appreciate. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1475782036.jpg

Each of those trim strips is held on by 4 single use plastic clips. You can try pressing down with your thumb and see if you can get it to "click" back into place.

You are a precious resource Steve!

Steve, thanks for your response. I hope you do not mind if I ask a stupid follow up
question...if it does not click back on to stay May I
use a little adhesive to affix it to the clip or would that have
terrible consequences in the future?

I have no idea :) Probably would be fine :)

Thanks for chiming in. You are a great resource to this forum.

There is some great 3m tape available at Autozone etc. that is for auto trim. It is available in varying widths, works very well and would probably be just what the car doc ordered for this type repair.

Monty, thanks for your suggestion. I'll look into it too.

You can gently pry off the strip and try to re-set it.The clips are probably toast. They start to become brittle and then fail. New clips are cheap. Not like the gold spin locks you may have bought.

Hello,

i would go with the advice of Xpit77.

3m tape won't hold it at high speeds (OK maybe it will be safe at 50 mp/h but not at 150 mp/h). And if the plastic clips are toast i would replace all of them.

Regards from Germany, Markus

The clips are cheap and its 0 degree difficulty to do.

It is a good chance to order all of other small Porsche parts that you have been needing. :)

Yes, Steve. Might as well maximize the shipment cost. 👍 Thanks
