Boxster Electrical Problems?
Hi, have a 97 Boxster 2.5, (RHD) generally great condition, but I have some weird issues with the electrical circuits and/or sensors, one that is baffling me is when I open or close the passenger window the heated screen switch light comes on, is this something normal or is there a problem with the cabin temperature sensor?
Also since radiator replaced last year have no heating unless set to maximum (HI), for example set to ‘24’ with temperature set to ‘AUTO’ the blower speed goes up to almost full but just blows out cool air! Any help or guidance greatly appreciated? |

Hi Markus,
Thanks for getting back to me. Yes; have checked the position of the exterior temp sensor in the front bumper, seems ok. Is it worth replacing just to see if the replacement deals with the problems? Thanks Mark |
Search two issues =
1. Earthing problems caused by corrosion- you are in a damp corrosive environment 2. Instrument/dash problems particularly the ignition switch.Yes it sounds silly but that darn switch can cause all sorts of weird and intermittent problems. |
Hello Mark,
climate control problem: The climate control system needs 2 temperature signals. One is the sensor outside the car in the front right (LHD) of the bumper. The other is the interior temperature sensor. If one of these sensors isn't connected correctly or doesn't work correctly, the climate system doesn't work correctly. As far as i know the climate system isn't monitored by PIWIS in a 97 car. But you can check the complete sensor system if you have a digital multimeter system. For details see Porsche workshop manual - Heating diagnosis. Regards, Markus |
