Transmission/Gear Issue
Was driving a short distance, hit a small bump, and lost all shifting. Wife heard something like a chain rattling, but now stuck with a car that won't shift into any gear. Suggestions? Anyone know a good shop in Denver area?

Geddy Lee - cool name. A nod to Rush?
I don't know of any shops in your area, but if you can get underneath the car it might be a simple fix. Could be either a shifter cable that has slid out of its' retaining bracket, a shift end has popped off, or a shift plate has come unbolted. All of these are easy fixes. Good luck. |
What Mig has said. Easy fix. Jack up right rear and remove rr wheel. On the side of the trans the shift cables are (or should be) clipped to the brackets. You will be able to see how the one that is still clipped in is secured. I use some safety wire to make sure they don't come loose. New clips should be used anytime you remove the cable from the trans.
