Cracked fuel line...

Hi guys!

Today I took a look at my engine, to figure out a way to change that loooong crankcase vent hose that goes from one side of the engine to the other...

And I noticed that:

The rubber fuel line is cracked!
It's probably like that since a while...

I don't get how this hose can hold the pressure without clamps? Barb fittings can hold 50PSI ?!

I'm going to get a new one tomorrow (unfortunately, I have to drive the car... dumb idea).

And this shiny thing is the hose I have to replace... but really I might just replace it with a good vacuum silicon hose, or at least half of it, cheaper, easier, and more reliable!

So... check yours! My car isn't that old (2002)!

Best way to change the cross over line is to tie a light but strong cord to one disconnected end, and pull the cord through as you remove the hose. Tie the cord to the new hose, and pull it back through with the cord.

The rubber fuel line is a push on over a barbed fitting, which is more than capable of holding the pressure. The lines are single use and have to be cut off and trimmed down to reattach.

Thanks for the advice, it still sounds like a huge pain :/
That hose is very long and goes around many things!

I'll replace the complete line, the line has almost no slack.

Thanks!

False alarm... this is just the rubber protection that is cracked! Good news!
