Question Disable side airbags with Durametric?

I'm building a dedicated track day car. I would like to disable the side impact airbags while keeping the frontal ones. The reasons are to position the cage door bars better, and to save weight.

My car needs to be road legal, but since it is registered as a 97 with a 98 body I believe I can get away with removing the side ones.I believe the 97 came without them.

Does anyone know if it's possible to code the controller to do this, or would I need a new controller?
