Need help with P0197 code
 

I have a P0197 code that keeps recurring (Engine oil temperature sensor below limit value). But my oil temperature appears to be normal. I read 82.5C after a 30 minute drive.

Does anyone know under what conditions this code is triggered?

Either an open circuit or a short to ground; could be wiring, sensor itself, or the DME. You need to check the sensor for the correct resistance and continuity, and test the wiring from the sensor to the DME for a short.

Are we talking about this sensor? Would the temp reading still work if there was a short? The level readings work too.

Anyone have a wiring spec for this sensor so I know what to look for?

Just an update, the check engine light was becoming a regular occurrence so I decided to replace the sensor. I'll eventually replace all sensors that have had a revision update.

This was not an easy sensor to replace as the left intake manifold is in the way. I had to remove all the intake bolts which allowed me turn it out of the way enough to slide in the new sensor.

After a week, no codes or CEL. Thanks for everyone's input.
