My Box lost it's cool
Drained cooling system, replaced WP, low temp Thermostat, oil cooler 'O' rings.
Nose was jacked a bit higher than rear I used UView Air lift. Held 26 psi no problem for a few minutes until filling I filled with around 4+ gallon of distilled water (doing a flush for now). (I only got a Little over 4 gallons out) That's all it took when vacuum went to 0. Tank level was at around max. Started and let idle for 15 -20 mins. Using torque app temp only got up 170s, 180s then it puked, A steady stream started out of overflow. Turned car off, let it sit for awhile, topped off tank level. Started again, aft 5-10 mins no overflow. Went for a drive around the block. Temps climbed quickly 190s, 200+. Oh no, this is going sideways. Then temps all of sudden went down to 180s, all is good. Took it for a 7-8 mile drive around town, temps hanging around 183. Some stops and goes - temp creep to low 190s Let it idle in the drive way, for a bit, temp went to 212, fans came on then back to mid 190s. Never over flowed I think some thing happened with the new thermostat, maybe got stuck, then started working. Could be an air pocket I'm going drive it a bit again then drain and refill with 50/50 |
Yep air pocket. Front of car should be lower than rear when filling to ensure rads fill completely. Drive with the release opened for a few laps errr drive cycles

So I did a second Distilled water flush. I was hoping 1 water then 50/50 but the drained water was still pretty green. This time I dropped the nose on the ground with the rear on ramps and refilled. I then ran at idle and 20 min, up to 170s, then a drive with purge open. Everything ran cool, much cooler than before.
So even with the UView Airlift, it appears that car level is important. If not nose down at least level. I don't know if the purge was over kill or not. So tonight I hope to drain last time and fill with 50/50 pink and be done. It will be interesting to see how cool it runs on the hwy. Since using the Torque App, it just ran a steady 194 F. Saturday it took me 20+ mins of stop and go(after 20 min idle in the driveway) to finally get to 190s |
Air is a B!tch with this cooling system setup. Parking it tail high with the vent cap bail locked in the open position but it will take time to fully burp it. Patience is the key and carrying a gallon of water for a few weeks :-)
