Tuning changes with ROW flash ?

What actually changes with a Row tune?
I know Row tuning doesn,t monitor rear O2 sensors ,eliminates the clutch interlock and doesn,t have secondary air injection.
What if anything else changes? I have searched everything I can .
There is mention of euro tuning for 98 octane fuel but euro 98 might be similar to US 94. What octane is a standard US 986 Boxster tuned to ? Is it the same
Has anyone dyno,ed a 986 before and after changing just the tune?

UK cars only have one pair of cats for a 986. In the UK and perhaps in Europe the fuel grade is measured in RON. That is not the same as octane or the measurement in the U.S.

The 986 in Europe has secondary air injection. Noise emissions are different. USA exhausts of that period are louder.

The car is optimized for Super Plus as a minimum, which in Germany is ROZ 98 (88 MOZ).

There is also 91 ROZ (82,5 MOZ), 95 ROZ (85 MOZ) 100 ROZ (88 MOZ) and 102 ROZ (88 MOZ) fuel available.

ROZ means Research Oktan Zahl
MOZ means Motor Oktan Zahl = engine octane value

AON – Average Octane Number (USA) is calculated by (ROZ+MOZ):2

In this case 98 ROZ plus 88 MOZ / 2 = 93 AON.

So the AON numbers in general are lower than the ROZ numbers which is used for classification over here in Germany.

Before you reflash , suggest you ensure it will pass SMOG . The new machines here in California are getting smarter at detecting non-OEM ECU programming. It would be a very expensive mistake if you got tagged for "Tampering ". Pity because it is a great mod. -particularly if you also eliminate the troublesome SAI (search). But that also has the same risk and at resale.
