Rear light wiring question
I bought an LED ready relay for my LED indicators but it didn't fix the problem, so I'm fitting resistors to the indicator wires.
With the rears, I'll do it to the wire plug, but there's 6 wires. I found these two diagrams though: http://i.imgur.com/bbtR9lg.jpg http://i.imgur.com/VGQQuln.jpg Could someone confirm that the left light cluster's indicator wire is number 4 being white and black, and the right light cluster's indicator wire is number 3 being black and... grey? Green? I haven't checked yet but what would GR be? Thanks! |
To answer part of your question, GR or GY is gray. Green will by GN.
if I'm reading your post correctly, you are trying to replace the regular blinker bulbs with LED. If that is the case, take in mined the in the Porsche lights plate, the positive is the common, and the lights output is negative. In other words, the outer contact of the bulbs get 12volts positive, and the center contact gets negative. While withe a regular bulb polarity doesn't matter, it does with LED's. All the "of the shelf" LED's I found, are reversed in polarity. |
Ah that's fine. I've tried the bulbs and they work just fine, it's just the fast flashing I need to fix.
The resistors are attached to the positive and negative/ground wire of the indicator bulb. If I attach it to the black & white wire, and then onto the brown wire, would it affect any other bulb in the housing? As they look like they share the same ground. |
No, they won't affect anything else. However, they get very hot, even on the intermittent circuit of the flasher, so keep them away from plastic and other wires. ;)

I'm speaking in general terms, but why not just put in a new flasher relay designed for LEDs?

I did as mentioned in the original post but it didn't work. Rather than keep buying relays, I know this method works.
