2003 Boxster clamshell shuck down

Out of the clear blue last night when I tried to put the top down the compartment cover started opening on the drivers side but the passenger side did not open. The drivers side only opens a few inches until it binds and stops. Anyone know how to get this thing open so I can fix the problem?
