IPD Plenum for 1999 Boxster 986 2.5L

Have seen several articles in Excellence magazine for IPD Plenums and Power Gains added. IPDPlenums.com only made for Boxster 2000-2004, but talking to the tech guy at IPD, he said "We do offer an "un-official" Plenum for the early 986 Boxster applications. We have sold a number of Plenums for the early Cable Throttle Boxster and have received great feedback and positive response. You can install our 1999 996 Carrera Cable Throttle Plenum BUT you need to source a 1999 996 Cable TB from a Porsche salvage yard or on Ebay" Anyone in the group have any experience in this area? Looking for the next performance mod. Happy Holidays

Check out Pedro's option

It might be an easier mod to install the TechnoPower kit from Pedro. It includes a modified plenum, bored throttle body, and a higher pressure fuel injector regulator (I think that is what that part is called). You get all of the parts and it installs very easily - at least it did on my 1997.

Good luck

Still have a problem with these Pedro plenum "addons".

Maybe this is a nice read: Intake plenum and 911 throttle body

Regards
Markus

at least 50% of the claimed "25hp" ~+11hp comes from the FVD performance software - had that done on my mine, does make a substantial difference in performance: see FVD website: data pre and post below 204 to 215hp

Software Upgrade Boxster 986 2.5L (Flash)Only

Engine - 6 Cylinder Boxer
Capacity - 2480ccm
Compression ratio - 11,0:1
Max. Power - 150kW (204HP) @ 6000rpm
Max. Torque - 245Nm (181lbf ft) @ 4500rpm
Max. Speed - 240km/h
Max. RPM - 6700rpm
Acceleration 0-100km/h - 6.9s

Tuning:
Max. Power - 158kW (215HP) @ 6000rpm
Max. Torque - 260Nm (192lbf ft) @ 4500rpm
Max. Speed - 247km/h
Max. RPM - 6900rpm
Acceleration 0-100km/h - 6.7s
