Why does A/C module from '97 blows fuse on '02?

I was told incorrectly that a '97 A/C module would work on my '02, so I had the LCD repaired on the old one. When I installed it, my dash fuse blew and I lost all instruments. Does anybody know what year cars the A/C module part number 996-653-101-00 works with.
And, who wants to buy a refurbished '97 A/C module?
Thanks, Tom
