Measurement Request

Can someone measure upwards from the crank pulley centre point to the uppermost part of the engine compartment in the Boxster?

I assume you need to have your car in a 'service position' of some sort.

Trying to get an idea for how much room is above the engine.

Thanks!

You could save yourself a lot of time by asking if ???? will fit in the compartment?

The group knows what has been tried and what works.

I doubt anyone will open the front access hatch to measure from the crank pulley to the top of the engine cover unless they happen to be doing an underdrive pulley install or a waterpump replacement.

The engine space would require quite a few measurements to get all the dimensions as its a complex compound shape.

I would try the racing section of the forum as they are most likely to have engines out now and then.

But if I phrase my question like "will ???? fit the compartment" then I am limiting my possibilities to the skill set of whomever decides to answer. In other words, just because the person that answers couldn't stuff the engine I'm planning doesn't mean I can't.

All I'm asking for is a simple measurement that will take a few seconds with someone who has the cover off to take.

I don't think there is that much - the 911 version of the M96 comes with taller intake runners and as a result when installing one of those engines into the Boxster the engine has to be lowered a little bit in order for the engine cover to clear. There are a few threads with folks that have done the clear engine cover and you can see that the engine is right up on that cover. If I get the engine cover off this weekend I will try and take a few measurements for you.
