Stereo Boxster S

I keep seeing chats about upgrade of stereo to Becker? Is that right? Is it an upgrade? Does it make a big difference?
I have just bought a Boxster S 2004 with what I think is a Bose upgrade (has Bose speakers and sub woofer behind head rest)
Any advise would be welcome

I am also looking to install an iPod input

Also passenger door speaker isn't working (I know this is probably a base unit) but not working. The passenger dash speaker wasn't working I found a yellow and yellow brown wire cut under speaker, reconnected it and it works. There was also a plug that didn't fit speaker

The Becker stereos were standard up until 2002. Your Bose system is a MOST fiber optic based system and is not backward compatible. There would be no need for you to pursue that path in any case.

Most Becker 'upgrades' involve replacing a 4 channel amp with a 6 channel amp, adding rear speakers or in some cases adding door speakers.

You can always upgrade your stereo but you will not be reusing any of your current system (other than speakers possibly).

You cant really add an Ipod input to a MOST system radio. There is a company that will add one for you , but it is a crappy addition and mono, not stereo.

There are a few threads on adding a bluetooth adapter.
here is the one I used and I am very happy with it. Even the hands free phone part works well

Bluetooth and In-dash USB

If you want to add something to the Most bus and you have a CDR 23, CDR 24, PCM 1, PCM 2 you can use the Dension interfaces.

yes, they work, just big bucks. You might as well replace the head unit and amp
