Windshield Wiper arm not working..Help!

My driver's side windshield wiper arm got caught as the blade fell part way off and now the driver's side wiper arm is not working.

When I turn the wipers on, the passenger side works fine, but the driver's side wiper does not move.

Any ideas on a fix?

thanks.

First thing is to remove the plastic cap and tighten the nut.

Then before putting the cap back watch what happens when you turn wipers on.

If the shaft and nut are turning, but the blade doesn't move, splines are stripped. Hope it's the splines on the arm rather than those on the shaft.

Wow!

Many thanks to all!!!

So, I just put a socket on it, and there was no room to put the socket wrench on it with the hood in place, so I just grabbed the socket with a pair of pliers and turned it. It BARELY turned. Maybe a 1/16th of an inch. But THAT worked. Wiper working now. You folks rock!

All the best!
