986 rear lid struts

Are the rear boot lid struts on the 986 meant to be a bit soft. I was thinking that my rear lid needed to be a bit less soft when opening and closing so I ordered a couple of struts and when I changed them it made very little difference to the way the lid feels. The front lid has some strong struts and I was looking for something like that for the back, that's why I changed them, but they still feel a bit spongy, and I have to push the lid more than 3/4 of the way up,for it to continue to open by itself. Is this normal?

The struts for the front and rear are very similar.
(I bought both but have only replaced the fronts)
It would appear that the extra weight of the rear hatch would be a bit more of a challenge for new struts than the new fronts that I just installed.
The front trunk now "flies open" and I would expect the rear not to.

Wow, thanks for the video. That seems very similar to mine. As Luckied said, it doesn't fly open at all, unlike the front one. I have to hold the front one when I'm opening it,it goes up so quickly, yet the back one I have to push it quite a way for it to continue opening by itself. Since its narrower than the front one I thought it would act similar to the front one, but I guess it is heavier so thats the reason!
