Brake flush amounts
 

I'm getting ready to do some track days and want to replace my brake fluid before I go. My current fluid is clean, so it is almost impossible to tell when the "old" fluid is out and the new in. That is why I want to do it by measuring the amount.

Last time I bleed and flushed my brake fluid, I found a post that specified how much fluid per caliper. I do remember it did add up to less than a liter.

I can't find that thread again

Does anyone know how much fluid you need to push through each caliper and the clutch slave to full replace the fluid?

This would be a good stickie for reference. I am about to flush my fluid as well (Original as far as I can tell)

Are you a member of the Boxster register? They have an article on brake flushing with exactly what you are asking. You have to have a login to see it though I think.

In this article he bleeds 6 ounces out of each rear caliper (3 oz per bleeder) and 5 oz out of each front, to get a complete flush.

I am about to do a flush as well but luckily(?) my old fluid is dark from use so it is easier to tell ;)

I recently had to bleed my front driver side and before I did I pushed the caliper pistons back using a brake pad spreader tool. I figured this would help me flush the old fluid that was in the caliper closest to the piston. When I bled I got a slug of ate blue from a couple of flushes ago... I am going to make this a part of my brake bleed workflow from now on. I also swapped my pads inside to out because the inner had less wear, I believe due to the cooling from my gt3 brake ducts.

I saw that one. The one I remember was in ML, not oz
Its interesting as the entire system is .4 liters or ~12.8 oz

6 oz is ~ 175 ML per rear caliper and 5 oz is~150 per front
That totals ~650 ml, so that makes a lot of sense

I saw another amount from someone and they were saying 500ml per caliper
That seem pretty high to me
