Engine stand mount yoke adapter
My search abilities need some serious improvement because I find almost nothing about how to hold the M96 engine in an engine stand. It does appear that the standard flange mount that comes with most rolling engine stands can be used but it is reportedly not very secure, especially during rebuilds with high torque values.
Here is a yoke/mount/adapter that I found online that can be used and looks quite strong, but it is expensive (close to $300) and it does not appear to allow the case to be split. Is that correct? Does anyone have experience with this yoke? Are there other solutions / products / sources that I am not aware of? No welding skills here so making my own is out. Thanks for sharing, Joe http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1441467149.jpg |
Try this guy vwalley1 on EBay I helped him with a prototype for the M96 some time ago:

I used a standard engine stand and ran a rope from the rafters to support the opposite end of the engine when the case was split. Don't know if I really needed it, but it made me feel better. With the case together and 4 bolts holding the engine it seemed plenty stout.
