fuel sending unit question
hi recently replaced my fuel pump and noticed that the skin of the wires on the fuel sending unit are cracked and stripped Im concerned about it shorting out and creating sparks inside the tank my question is is there a special kind of wire I need ? its submerged in petrol I'm thinking regular wires would deteriorate faster submerged in gasoline. any inputs would be appreciated thanks :)

You do get wire that is designed to withstand fuel, I'm not sure on submiursing though. A good electrical parts shop should be able to help you or point you in the right direction. Make sure what you get is the same or bigger gauge.

All wire is rated in size and jacket type. THHN is oil and gas resistant, but it's the splice that will also need to be oil & gas resistant. Don't know if heat shrink tubes are rated like THHN.
