Purchased a 1999 996 ECU kit for my 98 boxster with a 996 3.4 engine installed has i was still running on the 2.5 ecu.
Installed today but seems to be a fault once everything was installed ecu, immobilizer and key blade fitted to the matching key fob as soon as i attached the battery the alarm and hazards went off, engine won't crank and key fob does not work.
What ive found so far is that if i pull the black connector from the immobilizer the alarm and hazards stop, so i then removed to white connector the ecu then plugged back in the black connector connected the battery and the alarm went off again.
when i do the same thing with my original immobilizer everythings fine, so do you think the immobilizer faulty.

It sounds like the components are not coded to each other.

It came as a kit from the same car, so should be a plug in and play
That sir, is an assumption, but often not a fact..........

Tested the immobiliser on its own on the black connector and its faulty when voltage was applied to ground bottom left pin positive top left pin the immobilizer started to click like a flasher unit where the same test with my other working unit it didn't.
Have now sent it back seller giving refund
