variocam and solenoid

hi,

can i swap the solenoids over to see if the issue/ noise follows or are they handed?

Yes, and if you have access to a Porsche specific scan tool, you can also activate them individually while at idle.

thanks for reply dude,

i have access to snap on solus pro but using my tablet i can see the advance fluctuating at idle which dosent look right to me,

i think its a tensioner.

the clattering noise when warm at idle and decelerating below 3k rpm coupled with the advance fluctuation points that way.

is there a test for a tensioner without pulling cover off?
maybe a small bolt i can undo and test the tension?

If the Solus can see cam deviation values at idle, and they are swinging back and forth, you may have bigger issues like an IMS on the way out.
