Luckiest man in the world
Hi got a98 Boxster base with 3,4 Carrera engine and lost power and a cloud of smoke, so towed it home and got underneath. And there it was the cam chain failed and went threw the valve cover. After investigation not a single bent valve, only damage is the valve cover and cam shaft sprockets. Any one selling 2000-2001 Boxster cams and cam chain.
I have a 2001 996 C2 as well that I rebuild the engine on this winter due to cylinder scoring. (had it for 2 months dealer said sorry) http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1434570412.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1434570460.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1434570497.jpg |
Wow good that you shut it off quickly.
I have 3.4 cams & cam cover. That chain is cheap & you should buy new. |

Valve cover
I replaced just the valve cover on my 996 with a Boxster 2.7 valve cover and checked clearance off course

I have a bin of stuff left over from an '01 2.7 that I didn't have the heart to scrap yet. The engine was full of debris from a broken rod. There is a cam cover at the bottom of the bin. I have no plans for it. Let me know if you want more info or pics.
