Die to chase threads on a tie rod end?
Like an idiot I hammered my tie rod end bolt head to get it out. It didn't work. It's stuck in there good.
So I got the strut swapped out with it in place and now I have discovered I have messed up the top threads and I can't get the bolt started. Any idea of a chain store whereI might find something to clean up these threads? I have a spare bolt, so I'm good there. |
12mm X 1.5 medium pitch Harbor Freight is where I bought a full metric set for engine rebuilding. Amazing how cheap it was. Sears may have it in stock.

Thanks! Just bought a set at HF.

If the threads go al the way through the piece, try thresding the bolt from the back to clean out the threads.

Sadly, it's an outer tie rod end and the other end is all hooked up...

A file may be a better solution to clean up the lead in thread. A die can work, but it can also do a lot of damage to the existing threads by cutting a new set over the old.

Itsanova said he would sell me a used one for $20 if I screw this up...
