code P0343
 

anyone know if pulling the camshaft position sensor (hall sensor) wire loose (or partially loose) would cause a code p0343?
I just replaced my AOS and Oil filler pipe, after I started the car back up I almost immediately got the code.
since that sensor wire runs up close to the AOS, it is possible I hit it while installing the AOS. Looking at it earlier, I see a wire running from the sensor to a connector, then up under the intake. everything seemed ok, but could not see well enough under the intake to know if it was fully connected.

P0343 Camshaft Position Sensor 1 – Above Limit

Potential causes:
Check the connector/wiring. Check signal wire from DME control module to CMP sensor for short circuit to B+.

went in to check the wiring and connector to the Camshaft Position sensor. unplugged the harness and checked it, looked ok, reconnected it. traced the wire up behind the J tube where it connects to the AOS. removed the J tube for a better look and immediately saw that the connector was completely pulled out. it was still clean and shiny, so it is pretty clear that I somehow managed to pull this loose while I was replacing the AOS.
In any case, plugged it back in and reset the fault codes. hasn't come back yet so I hopeful that this solved the p0343 code.
Now I just have to solve the P1126.

I had my yearly inspection of my car and they found the P0343. Since it was there last year aswell (without me knowing it) i have 30 days to fix it and bring it back for re-inspection before my car becomes illegal on public roads... argh...


Anyhow, I'd like to check for obvious and easy causes before i let a dealer look at it.

WHere is the camshaft position sensor located and how do I access it? I guess the mentioned harness is attached to or close to it?

My other thought was to buy an OBDII-tool and reset the error to see if it reapears, would that be a bad thing to do?
